(ZYN/ADV/DISKOMINFO)

The East Kalimantan Provincial Government has once again reaffirmed its commitment to fighting for the welfare of honorary teachers, especially those serving in remote, frontier, and outermost areas (3T).

This support includes the proposal for additional quotas for the Government Employees with Work Agreements (PPPK) formation and the provision of incentives through the allocation of education funds.

East Kalimantan Deputy Governor, Seno Aji, made this statement after the 20th Plenary Session of the East Kalimantan Provincial Parliament at the East Kalimantan Provincial Parliament Main Building, Teuku Umar Street, Samarinda, on Monday (June 23, 2025).

He explained that not all honorary teachers are currently accommodated in the PPPK scheme that has been opened by the central government.

“Many of the teachers fostered by the Provincial Government, especially in 3T areas, have not yet joined the PPPK program. We have sent a letter to the Ministry of PAN-RB requesting the quota to be reopened,” said Seno.

During this process, the Provincial Government continues to allocate salaries for teachers through the Education Operational Assistance Fund (BOSP). This support is an effort to maintain the sustainability of basic education services in areas with limited access.

However, Seno acknowledged that there is still a tendency among some teachers to apply for transfers to urban areas. He stated that the Provincial Government intends to reduce this trend by providing more equitable incentives that favor those serving in rural areas.

“We want to give more attention to teachers who have been working hard in remote areas. Incentives should be designed so that they remain motivated to serve in areas that are in desperate need,” he concluded. (ADV/RED5-Z11/f)
