(ZYN/ADV/DISKOMINFO)

The East Kalimantan Tourism Office has urged all tourism stakeholders to ensure that this year’s school holiday takes place in a safe, comfortable, and enjoyable atmosphere. This call follows the issuance of the Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy of the Republic of Indonesia Circular Letter No. SE/3/HK.01.03/MP/2025, which regulates the organization of tourism activities during the school holiday period.
This campaign targets tourism businesses, destination managers, and the general public. Its aim is not only to increase visits but also to strengthen sustainable and responsible tourism management.
“We want the school holidays to be not only a moment of relaxation but also an educational opportunity for the public to travel in an orderly and environmentally conscious manner,” said Ririn Sari Dewi, Head of the East Kalimantan Tourism Office, when confirmed via WhatsApp on Tuesday, June 24, 2025.
Ririn explained that East Kalimantan has many prominent destinations that are often crowded with visitors during school holidays. She stated that this surge needs to be anticipated with more professional services and well-prepared risk management.
“Excellent service must be the standard, not a bonus. We ask that safety, health, and mitigation SOPs be strictly followed, including the readiness of rest areas and easily accessible information for tourists,” Ririn said.
She emphasized the importance of collaboration between the government, business operators, and local communities so that the holiday momentum does not cause new issues on the ground.
Restiawan Baihaqi, Head of Marketing at the East Kalimantan Tourism Office, added that the school holiday period is a critical phase in the annual tourism calendar. Therefore, the office hopes that business operators can view this moment as both an opportunity and a challenge.
“We encourage them not just to pursue traffic but also to build their reputation. Tourists are now critical; they observe the service, safety, cleanliness, and integrity of the managers,” he said.
As part of this campaign, the East Kalimantan Tourism Office has also distributed the CHSE (Cleanliness, Health, Safety, and Environmental Sustainability) Module, which is publicly accessible at https://bit.ly/RA_modulCHSE. This module contains standard guidelines for managing tourism that is safe and adaptive to emergency situations.
Tourists have also been reminded not to neglect their role. The East Kalimantan Tourism Office reminds that maintaining the comfort and safety of destinations is a collective responsibility.
“Communities must comply with regulations, be aware of risks, and help maintain public facilities. Tourism is not just about consumption; it’s also about civilization,” said Restiawan.
Through the campaign titled “Safe, Comfortable, and Enjoyable Tourism During the 2025 School Holidays,” the East Kalimantan Provincial Government hopes to further strengthen the region’s image as a leading destination in Eastern Indonesia. (ADV/RED5-Z12/g)
